Mayuzumi's words when he left Nijisanji has been on my mind and I hate the conclusion that I've arrived upon - Alo Japan (1)

> Another notable thing about Mayuzumi was that, up until his graduation stream, he had never enabled Superchat. Every one of his projects were paid for from his own pockets. Nijisanji was a passion project of his.

[This is the easiest thing to debunk as he has enabled super chats for certain streams.](https://playboard.co/en/channel/UCb5JxV6vKlYVknoJB8TnyYg/videos?sortTypeId=30) He just doesn’t consistently keep them on. He’s talked about how it’s annoying to turn it off/on and maybe has talked about turning them on to mess with super chat rankings. Just don’t forget the power of voice packs, especially since his contained some lore related things or so I’ve been told, albeit they’re fairly minor.

And if it’s not something given to the talents by management, it’s something they pay for out of their own pocket anyway, even if it’s regarding their own 3D debut. Kagami Hayato having to pay for the live band, Saegusa Akina paying for transporting the maimai washing machine, Sukoya Kana having membership-only aftertalk with Katashiro Reflect to offset costs going into that, etc.

> Missing now are one-off events organized by individual livers such as Mayuzumi’s RPS tournament, Mario Kart Cup, and Rindou’s NJU (management took over in 2022 but discontinued it in 2023). We are also looking at a 2024 with Koshien being run by management rather than Maimoto, the heart and soul of the event, and from whose passion for baseball the entire event was first conceived.

– [Do we really want to look at events held by talents themselves in 2023 alone?](https://wikiwiki.jp/nijisanji/%E3%82%A4%E3%83%99%E3%83%B3%E3%83%88%E3%83%BB%E5%A4%A7%E4%BC%9A%E3%83%BB%E7%89%B9%E7%95%AA%E7%AD%89#events2023) (It has stuff by management as well, but not sure if there’s a different section of the wiki that lines them up more neatly like this.)
– The JP wiki doesn’t have everything. And it is missing some of these bigger EN events that you’ve mentioned, like WrestleSanji2023, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, Suika Game, TSBCustom2023 HoloNIJI. There’s some stuff like Katashiro Reflect by Sukoya Kana, Kenmochi Toya’s Oekaki no Mori, the Switch volleyball tournament, the HOTLIMIT event (lol), not sure if Kuzuha Cup counts but still something to think about.
– There’s heaps more that someone else has talked about as well, but I’d like to point out Lain Paterson in particular for the projects that show talent’s skincare/makeup products. There’s a lot of women into Nijisanji, but there’s also some guys who’ll ask about this, which is also nice to see.
– We don’t know if NJU was discontinued in its entirety because you need to remember the scheduling. NijiFes 2023 happens at Dec 23~24 ’23. Talents have been practicing since as early as the end of August for whatever stages + Eve, Symphonia Day 1 & 2, SakuYui stage play, Kuzuha’s Kaleidoscope. The talents had talked about being very busy in 2022 due to practice and recording for NJU 2022.
– I’ll add on that for NJU, it had grown far larger than the Livers alone could handle. iirc Mikoto had brought up that the Livers were fine not taking any money made from the event. It’s having to pay the staff who were working with them. (Mikoto had to make a deal with management before actually handing it over, but she deleted the stream because she felt like she sounded too negative about everything.)

I think we also need to be aware that maybe not everyone wants to host a large event. I hear of some Livers being drained from just organizing song/dance.

Edit because you specifically pointed out Mayuzumi:

– After season 1 of Katashiro Reflect, Sukoya talked about some of it in a following zatsudan. She mentioned that during a [virtual theatre collab](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlBU145giYI) how she wanted to do 3D Katashiro. [Suo Sango and Mayuzumi supported her.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2I1KogeP32w&t=281s)
– It got mentioned somewhere in I think that Mayuzumi and Ryushen zatsudan where some of the tech they wanted for the play (spotlight) wasn’t done until the day of. There’s some other interesting talk, like how tech gets developed because of things the talents want to do, particularly Hanabatake Chaika.
– After season 2, [Sukoya brings up the same topic again.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ql8e_Se6blk&t=6161s) This time, she talks about how Mayuzumi had said there’s a lot of singing stuff in 3D, how it’d be nice if there was more acting things. Sukoya wanted to carry that on.
– NijiFes 2022 had the acting stage which was a parody of Alice in Wonderland.
– [Sukoya did another original virtual acting with Aizono Manami (fellow cast member from NijiFes ’22 acting stage), Naruse Naru, and Kanae back in March 2023.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05R3xuY3Ju8)
